The new module provides automated configuration of redundant systems and dynamically prioritizes and recovers traffic when network failures occur. The increased layer of redundancy ensures network uptime, resulting in reduced costs, Service Level Agreement (SLA) commitments are met and increased Quality of Service (QoS). The new Redundancy Manager easily integrates into Newpoint’s industry-leading COMPASS NMS. The COMPASS Redundancy Manager replaces individual or multiple hardware redundancy controllers, and adds additional flexibility and system-wide intelligence capabilities not possible in dedicated controllers. In addition, COMPASS’ easy to use graphical user interface (GUI) gives users the ability to simply select a required equipment source and destination along with the desired service configuration profile. Redundancy Manager then intelligently selects equipment that ensures peak network efficiency in the face of single or multiple equipment failures. Key COMPASS Redundancy Manager features include:
- Arbitrary failover topologies with no need for a dedicated spare unit
- Service-level prioritization for intelligent failover and 100 percent equipment utilization
- Dynamic configuration management that ensures fast failover of high-priority services based upon established policies
- Handles complex system topologies to more easily configure complex redundancy systems
