Fujitsu Frontech North America… Encoding Enlightenment (ASIC)

[SatBroadcasting™] Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc. is now making available a new, high-performance, application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) technology optimized to meet the growing demand for 10 bit 4:2:2 encoding in the advanced H.264 (AVC) supporting all formats, including 1080P and “stereoscopic” 3D television content. The new technology will be integrated into the Fujitsu IP-9600 nexgen encoder, a new, scalable and highly flexible digital media processor and networking platform scheduled to launch in mid 2011.

The IP-9600 platform will join a family of encoding technologies that includes: the IP-9500 high-performance, high definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) H.264 (AVC) 4:2:2/4:2:0 contribution encoder; the cost-efficient IP-9400 HD/SD 4:2:0 encoder specifically designed for electronic news gathering (ENG) and satellite news gathering (SNG) operations; and the IP-900 HD/SD encoder/decoder for efficient digital content transmission in AVC 4:2:0 format with robust FEC/ARQ technology, suitable for less-than-perfect, restricted-bandwidth IP networks.

In order to provide excellent support for its existing and next-generation media solution products, Fujitsu has developed a strong global channel partner program. Fujitsu digital media solutions are available through channel partners in the U.S., U.K., Middle East and Asia. Servicing the U.S customers is NCS Industries (part of the ADDvantage Technologies Group), a master stocking distributor for the full range of Fujitsu AVC encoders, decoders and accessories, as well as AZCAR, Globecomm Systems, L-3/ESSCO, ND Satcom, On Call Communications and TBC Integration. Other non-U.S. partners include VISLINK, Megahertz Broadcast Systems (U.K.) and AVC (New Zealand).
