AIAA International Communications Satellite Systems Conference — Relax! Abstract Deadline Extended

Busy lives and deadlines are stressful, but now the abstract deadline for the 28th AIAA International Communications Satellite Systems Conference (ICSSC-2010) has been EXTENDED to 15 February 2010. The conference theme is Broadband for All from August 30 through September 2, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. This year’s conference will explore the state of the art and potential solutions to the explosive demand for bandwidth and the need to provide broadband services in areas previously deemed economically or technically unfeasible. On-demand movies to the home, video conferencing in lieu of travel, and remote surveillance data from UAVs all demand greater bandwidth and global coverage.

The ICSSC-2010 technical program will focus on the ability of satellite systems to provide solutions that are adaptable to rapid changes in demand and in geographic coverage and that are universally interoperable with the terrestrial infrastructure. Papers are being solicited in the following areas:

• Advanced communication techniques
• Advances in payload subsystems and architectures
• Antenna technologies
• Communications and network protocols and interoperability
• Earth terminal systems
• Integrated services for disaster relief
• Integrated services for remote medicine and remote access to medical records
• Interactivity via satellite
• Mobile broadband communications – Land, sea and air
• Military applications and architectures
• Integration of air and space – Challenges and opportunities
• Maritime surveillance
• Rapid response payloads
• Regulatory and spectrum sharing issues
• Launch vehicles – Update

Abstract submissions will be accepted electronically through the AIAA Web site at. Once you have entered the conference web site, scroll down to the ICSSC section which is located under the information for the AIAA SPACE 2010 Conference & Exposition. Underneath the ICSSC heading, select “Submit a Paper” and follow the instructions listed. The deadline for receipt of abstracts via electronic submittal is 15 February 2010.
