World Food Programme In Haiti — Serves Hope At This Café


Members of the World Food Programme’s emergency response telecommunications team use satellite.
Many encouraging actions from various agencies worldwide have begun in Haiti after the cataclysmic earthquake to ensure the victims food for body, soul and mind.

One of these agencies is World Food Programme emergency telecommunications personnel who have set-up an Inter Agency cybercafé to provide email access to the humanitarian community.  The UN NGO partner Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF) is offering similar services and providing free, three-minute phone calls to Haitians in the aftermath of last week’s devastating earthquake.

The United Nations Foundation and Vodafone Foundation support the deployment of these two emergency telecommunications teams to support the UN’s ability to quickly deliver emergency aid, and to provide a valuable service to communities affected by disaster.
