On Sept. 16, 2026, in-space mobility provider Impulse Space closed a $308 million extension to its Series D financing round. The capital injection raises total Series D funding to $808 million and will fund platform engineering, orbital vehicle fabrication, and corporate expansion to satisfy growing government and commercial launch manifests.
The extension drew investment from 137 Ventures, BANNER VC, DFJ Growth, Linse Capital, Lux Capital, and Valor Equity Partners.
Capital Allocation and Hardware Portfolio
Proceeds from the financing will support development across Impulse Space’s orbital vehicle family, including its Mira orbital transfer vehicle and the high-impulse Helios upper stage. In parallel, the company is scaling production of Electra, an electric propulsion system designed to support broad mission profiles for satellite maneuvers and orbital maintenance.
To manage financial operations during this capital expansion, Impulse Space appointed Adam Townsend as its first Chief Financial Officer. The company will utilize the Series D funds to expand its engineering workforce, scale manufacturing throughput, and prepare hardware for upcoming flight campaigns.
Flight Heritage and Defense Program Integration
The funding extension follows multiple flight demonstrations and defense contract awards for the space mobility firm. In orbit, Impulse Space completed a proximity flight campaign, executing a coordinated flyby between its active LEO-2 and LEO-3 Mira vehicles that brought the two spacecraft within roughly 200 meters of one another. Flight operations will continue with the upcoming LEO Express 4 mission, marking the fourth orbital deployment for the Mira architecture.
In the national security sector, Impulse Space secured a $28 million contract extension from the U.S. Space Force to support the VICTUS SALO 2 and 3 responsive space missions. Additionally, the U.S. Air Force and Space Force selected Impulse Space for the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) Phase 3 Lane 1 provider pool, utilizing its Helios upper stage to make Impulse the first non-traditional upper-stage developer to serve as a prime contractor under the program.
Operational Outlook
Impulse Space will direct the extension capital toward scaling vehicle assembly facilities and expanding flight operations teams. Initial deliveries under the NSSL Phase 3 Lane 1 framework and the VICTUS SALO missions are scheduled to proceed alongside commercial deployments for the Mira OTV fleet through late 2026 and 2027.
