Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq: ADBE) has released Adobe Flash Lite 3 software, which now supports Adobe Flash Player compatible video and enables the delivery of dynamic web content on mobile devices. Flash Lite 3 allows mobile device manufacturers, operators, and content providers to differentiate their offerings by giving users the ability to watch Flash Player compatible video and browse Flash enabled web sites when integrated with a mobile Web browser. NTT DoCoMo and Nokia committed to deliver Flash Lite 3 enabled devices in upcoming releases of handsets. With more than 300 Million Flash enabled mobile devices and handsets shipped so far, Adobe expects more than one billion Flash enabled devices to be available by 2010. Flash Lite 3 more closely replicates the desktop experience delivered by Adobe Flash Player. This gives mobile users the freedom to access content whenever and wherever they want, while efficient resource management capabilities significantly improve and optimize performance for mobile devices. With Flash Lite 3, developers worldwide are able to create more engaging applications, interfaces and mobile assets that integrate video, as well as develop innovative and dynamic mobile assets such as wallpapers, screensavers or casual games.

Cisco and Openet have announced that Turkcell, Turkey’s leading communications and technology company, has deployed a combined solution to provide a flexible charging system for its general packet radio service (GPRS) mobile data network. The joint solution from Cisco and Openet, which went live at mobile operator Turkcell in June 2009, introduces intelligence into the network to enable the real-time packet inspection, rating and billing of individual customers’ mobile data usage. It helps the operator deliver and charge for pre- and post-paid data and next-generation services. As a result, Turkcell, which has a subscriber base of more than 36 million, is able to provide subscribers with several billing options: by application used, for combined services or by data bandwidth consumed.

Fonerola has debuted its first mobile application, FonerCall. Now available at no cost at the Apple App store, this communication app allows mobile phone users to save money on International and Long Distance calls by routing calls over the Internet via the device’s built-in Wi-Fi service. Whether you are at home, the office or at a coffee shop, you can now make long distance calls anywhere there is a Wi-Fi spot. It is simple to use and as easy as making regular calls. Fonercall users can conveniently manage their minutes and recharge two ways: by Juicing Up their accounts online at the Company website or by purchasing Fonercall Juice Packs, available in $10, $25, $50 and $100 denominations, at select retailers. Replenishing with Juice Packs gives users an extra 10 percent over online juicing. FonerCall is now available at the Apple App Store where you can obtain a free service trial upon downloading. Currently, the application works with the iPhone and iPod touch 2G.

The Vodafone Americas Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the second annual Vodafone Americas Foundation Wireless Innovation Project, a competition to identify and reward the most promising advances in wireless related technologies, which can be used to solve critical problems around the globe. Proposals will be accepted from October 5, 2009 through February 1, 2010, with the final winners announced on April 19, 2010 at the annual Global Philanthropy Forum in Redwood City, CA, one of the Wireless Innovation Project’s nonprofit partners. Vodafone Americas Foundation will award a total of $600,000 to the first, second, and third-prize winners of the Wireless Innovation Project. This project is to foster creativity and fund the most promising innovations, which have the potential to solve pressing issues around the globe. Continuing this important work is in alignment with Vodafone and its global network of 23 foundations which, through grants and contributions of close to $60,000,000, are helping hundreds of thousands of people around the world lead better, fuller lives. Applicants for the Wireless Innovation Project must be nonprofits, educational institutions or social entrepreneurs based in the United States.
