The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency has announced that the final space work on Japanese Experiment Module “Kibo,” Japan’s first manned space facility, has been completed.
The assembly was confirmed to be completed as the Exposed Facility was attached to the Kibo‘s Pressurized Module by the STS-127 (2J/A) mission — all functions were verified to be satisfactory at 11:23 a.m. on July 19, 2009 (Japan Standard Time.) The Japanese Experiment Module “Kibo” is now fully established as a permanent, on-orbit laboratory that will provide pressurized and exposed experiment environments.
