The Society of Satellite Professionals International will host its fourth annual Future Leaders Dinner honoring young leaders in the satellite communications industry as well as an executive acknowledged for mentoring rising young professionals in the industry.
The Future Leaders Dinner will be held Tuesday, October 13, at The Princeton Club in midtown Manhattan starting at 6:00 PM (ET). The dinner will honor three young industry professionals, selected from a pool of nominees, to receive SSPI’s “Promise Award” in recognition of their potential to advance into leadership positions in the satellite business. In addition, SSPI will bestow its “Mentor Award” on an executive recognized by his or her peers for fostering young talent, both within his or her organization and throughout the industry.
A portion of the proceeds from the dinner goes to SSPI’s Educational Fund. The fund helps deserving high school and university graduates meet the high costs of undergraduate and post-graduate study in satellite-related disciplines. Other worthwhile initiatives of SSPI’s Educational Fund include funding internship opportunities with satellite industry employers, satellite curriculum development in conjunction with major universities, providing an online database of higher education institutions with programs dedicated to satellites and space, and applying its Web site and networking capabilities as a clearinghouse of information for young people interested in getting into the industry. The SSPI Future Leaders Dinner serves as the social networking event opening Satellite Week in NYC, which culminates in SATCON and the other events of Content and Communications World, including HD World and IP Media Expo.
