The California Space Authority (CSA) has teamed with Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) in preparing an integrated overview of basic space/aerospace industry fundamentals.
Designed to increase global space enterprise competitiveness among California entities, the Space 101 Program will bring greater awareness of supplier networks and multiple industry platform relationships to non-technical staff members and contracting authorities. “Space is a platform supporting industry that enables the success of many other technologies,” stated the Honorable Andrea Seastrand, Executive Director of CSA. “In order for California space enterprise companies to remain competitive, it’s important their entire workforce more fully appreciate the impact of their work. The Space 101 Course will provide non-technical employees and contracting agents with a broader understanding of all facets of the space enterprise.”
The seminar will begin at 8:30 a.m. on July 16 and continue until 3:30 p.m.. SpaceX will host the program at their 12301 Crenshaw Boulevard facilities in Hawthorne, California. Along with non-technical space enterprise employees, the program is geared to be of interest to supply chain managers, engineers, professional association members, industry consultants, students and faculty members, policymakers, and representatives from NASA and the Department of Defense (DoD). In addition to SpaceX, participants in the program include The Aerospace Corporation; Science Applications International; AT Kearney; NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Los Angeles Air Force Base Space and Missile Systems Center; Aerojet; The Boeing Company; and the California State University, Los Angeles’ College of Engineering, Computer Science and Technology.
Space enterprise provides state-of-the-art solutions to many key California issue areas by supporting many of California’s leading industries. Entertainment, tourism, agriculture, global goods movement and emergency management are all beneficiaries of space-based technologies.
