Announced at the Digital Ship Conference in Oslo, Norway, Globe Wireless launched GlobeMobile, a new and complete GSM solution for vessels. GlobeMobile enables the crew to use personal GSM phones for voice and SMS communications.
GlobeMobile is a total GSM solution for VSAT, Iridium OpenPort and Fleet Broadband terminals controlled by a unique custom built Globe Wireless GSM network. The system offers several features that differentiate it from other solutions in the market. The network provides the standard voice calls to and from the ship, full SMS messages support, and onboard mobile-to-mobile calling. GlobeMobile also allows visitors to “roam” into the ship.
The Globe Wireless pre-paid SIMs provides inexpensive voice and SMS service while aboard the ship, and can also be used while on shore using standard GSM roaming. Working closely with industry leading partner Zynetix, Globe Wireless is able to provide a high quality solution with inexpensive calling rates for GSM users onboard the vessel. The system is a complete hardware and network solution built specifically for Globe Wireless customers.
