OmniGlobe Networks EMEA, a supplier of communications equipment and systems for satellite and terrestrial transmissions, announced that following the Company’s recent strategic alliance with Sat-Comm Ltd, it has qualified as a certified digital satellite news gathering (DSNG) supplier for the ASBU-MENOS network, with the official announcement made after the successful testing performed by Newtec at its Belgian facilities in December of last year.
Newtec’s MENOS (multimedia exchange network over satellite) is a networking concept designed primarily for professional broadcasters. The technology allows video and audio content to be shared amongst sites scattered across a large geographical area. Its hub, completed at the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) facility in Algiers in 2008, is the largest and fastest feed and file exchange network for broadcasters and corporates, encompassing the entire Middle-East/North-Africa and Europe, and providing advanced exchange services to its 25 broadcast members in the Arab world.
Customers of OmniGlobe Networks EMEA already include commercial, banking, GSM, satellite broadcasting and government markets, as well as NGO organisations. The company has identified the satellite broadcasting industry as an important growth sector and is focusing its efforts on extending its product line, responding specifically to the needs of the DSNG market. OmniGlobe, through its partnership with Sat-comm, will be offering ASBU a vast array of DSNG solutions whose proven reliability has been tested in the operational and terrain conditions of the Middle East and North Africa region. Its products include an ultimate 1.2 meter antenna system that can instantly convert any standard 4×4 dual cab pickup truck into an SNG vehicle.
