BALATON + MotoSAT — Balaton Group, an international private equity firm based in Toronto, Canada, with experience in the satellite industry is acquiring MotoSAT, a leading provider of mobile and automated satellite antenna solutions. MotoSAT, currently located in Salt Lake City, Utah, is strong in their technical leadership and showcase-manufacturing capabilities in the U.S., which positions the company well for expansion into global markets. In addition, Balaton Group sees potential in MotoSAT’s new, ruggedized commercial product line that should generate continued expansion into the Satellite News Gathering, Government, Military, Emergency Management, Commercial and Media sectors. The acquisition is set to close in the fall of 2008. Financial terms have not been disclosed. Another positive factor of MotoSAT is their recent market-ready technology that uses inclined-orbit satellites. This is a solution that can drastically lower the cost of ownership of satellite communications circuits.
