NSSL Knows Getting Better Sometimes Means Going Smaller

NSSL is launching its Cruise-IP maritime broadband system with a “compact antenna”. Called Cruise-IP60, the new antenna is a significant development for vessels with aesthetic or mounting restrictions as it opens up the possibility of unlimited download rates for a fixed fee, an option which may not have previously been available to them through any satellite provider. Cruise-IP, established in 2005, is NSSL’s non-Inmarsat, maritime broadband solution which provides low cost, high quality, broadband communications at sea. While Cruise-IP is extremely popular with larger vessels, especially super-yachts, the system’s antenna size may have prohibited its installation onto other vessels. In contrast, Cruise-IP60, with its diameter of just 60-cm, is ideal for vessels as short as 15-meters, and will ensure that the same Internet facilities and throughput speeds enjoyed by larger vessels—London, United Kingdom
