Advent Communications will show the 1.5 meter version of its FlyDrive satellite antenna at Broadcast Asia with its 5000 Series electronics package. The 1.5 metre FlyDrive is a lightweight satellite antenna with full 3-axis motorized control, is small, lightweight, and portable with a powerful, electronics package for SD and HD. The 5000 Series electronics is a set of small, powerful, electronic units for satellite uplinks. In Its simplest form, it can comprise a DVE5000 switchable encoder/modulator for SD and HD, ACU5000 antenna control unit, and AUC5000 block upconverter in a 5000 Series one-half rack flightcase weighing around 14kg. The 5000 Series units are only half the width of a standard 19-inch comms rack, which makes them ideal for flyaway and vehicle-based applications, where space is always at a premium. The FlyDrive is designed to be shipped as a flyaway system and can be temporarily installed onto a vehicle with longitudinal roof bars. Advent’s 1.5 meter antenna and a basic, single thread 5000 Series electronics package, can all be contained in five flight cases that conform to the IATA regulations for checked-in luggage on commercial airlines.
The DVE5000 Digital Video Exciter supports SD MPEG video and HD and comes with an integrated L-band modulator and HPA controller and can be upgraded from SD to HD in the field without being returned to the factory. This makes it ideal for broadcasters who need to buy SD equipment now, but plan to shoot in HD in future. Advent’s ACU5000 Antenna Control Units have manual controller and satfinder, with optional upgrades to provide automatic location of satellites and alignment of the antenna. Advent’s range of high performance block upconverters takes L Band input and creates outputs for C-, X-, Ku-, DBS and Ka- Bands.
