
GLAST BLAST Done In By A Battery
Dunno… this must be the fourth revisitation we’ve had regarding the launch date for NASA’s Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope (GLAST)—now the new launch date is June 11th from Cape Canaveral AFS aboard a Delta II rocket, with the launch window extending from 11:45 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. With the previous launch date of June 7th, the reason for this extension is additional time required to replace the rocket’s flight termination system battery. Apparently, last Wednesday, a problem was located with this system. One day we’ll be able to say, AT LAST—GLAST! Better to be safe than sorry…
