Resigning as the Chairman of the Board and Director of Intelsat, Ltd., is Mr. Joseph Wright, effective May 1st. Raymond Svider, a Managing Partner of BC Partners, who are Intelsat‘s majority shareholder, was elected to the position of Chairman by the Board. David McGlade, the company’s CEO, stated, “Joe Wright has been a key figure in the success of the fixed satellite services industry. From his days on the PanAmSat board, through his distinguished service as PanAmSat’s CEO, to the last two years as Intelsat’s Chairman, he has been a major force in the positive changes that have shaped our sector. Joe’s valuable insights as we combined Intelsat and PanAmSat, particularly with respect to our government business, allowed Intelsat to quickly obtain the benefits of our ‘one company’ operating structure. We wish him every success in his future endeavors.”
In additional Intelsat activities, the company now has been contracted by Bogota-based Elite Entertainment Television S.A. for a multi-transponder deal to distribute DTH content to customers in Columbia, making this the 28th DTH platform hosted on the Intelsat global net. Elite will use Intelsat’s capacity to distribute its programming bouquet of movies, sports, news and entertainment. The National Commission of Television of Colombia (CNTV) awarded the country’s third DTH license to Elite Entertainment Television S.A.
Intelsat has it, Brazil needs it, and so the company and the country two have come to an agreement. Intelsat has announced that its IS 10-02 satellite is authorized for the provision of satellite capacity to Brazil. Through this transmission authorization, the Intelsat 10-02 spacecraft will join the other 13 satellites within Intelsat’s global fleet serving Brazil. Launched in 2004, the EADS Astrium-built Intelsat 10-02 has been providing a full range of services on its C- and Ku-band transponders, with coverage of Europe, Africa, the Americas and the Middle East from its 359° E orbital location—Pembroke, Bermuda
