World Teleport Association (WTA) has announced the finalists for its 2008 Teleport Awards for Excellence. From this group of finalists, WTA will name winners in each of the three categories on February 26, 2008 at the Association’s 13th annual Teleport Awards for Excellence Ceremony and Luncheon. In addition, the association has named its Teleport Executive of the Year.
The INDEPENDENT TELEPORT OPERATOR OF THE YEAR FINALISTS include CapRock Communications, Houston, Texas USA; Globecomm Systems, Hauppauge, New York USA; and Spacenet, McLean, Virginia USA. The CORPORATE TELEPORT OPERATOR OF THE YEAR FINALISTS include; ESPN Broadcast Center, Bristol, Connecticut USA; Eutelsat, Paris France; and Gascom, Moscow, Russia. The finalists for TELEPORT TECHNOLOGY OF THE YEAR find Enigma L-band Matrix/Router from ETL Systems (United Kingdom); Group QoS and Global NMS from iDirect Technologies (USA); and Dataminer CPS Manager from Skyline Communications (Belgium) all named.
In a separate announcement, WTA announced the selection of Kenneth Miller, President & COO of Globecomm Systems (USA), as its 2008 Teleport Executive of the Year. Mr. Miller helped lead Globecomm to record profitability and was responsible for transforming the company, long known for its customized engineering excellence and integration services, into a provider of complex network solutions for a range of vertical markets, including broadcasting and government. The company’s use of its Long Island teleport to support an aggressive and scalable innovation and growth strategy were also cited by the international trade association. The 2008 luncheon will be attended by over 150 members, guests and representatives from World Teleport Association. Attendees will include teleport and satellite industry executives, as well previous awards recipients, from around the world. The 2008 event will be emceed by WTA’s Director of Development, Louis Zacharilla.
