We just received a call from Raytheon last Friday morning regarding the approval just granted them to broadcast the Super Bowl LXII to our highly deserving and valiant sailors and marines who are at sea in the Pacific region. This will be thanks to technology developed, maintained and operated by Raytheon Company [NYSE:RTN]. For more than 10 years, the Raytheon-developed Global Broadcasting Service (GBS) military satcom system has provided high-speed, multimedia broadcasts of mission critical info to military and government decision makers. This weekend, in coordination with the Navy and American Forces Radio and Television Services, GBS will broadcast Super Bowl XLII to military service men and women who are stationed away from home, who would otherwise not be able to enjoy this celebrated American event. As Alan Goldey, Raytheon GBS program manager, stated, “We are thrilled that our technology has enabled us to bring our deployed men and women a little closer to home through this broadcast. Raytheon has developed and sustained the GBS program into what the Air Force has declared to be one of its best managed military satellite communications programs.”—Garland, Texas
