An announcement from Globecomm Systems [NASDAQ: GCOM] finds the company receiving a contract to provide a direct-to-home (DTNH) broadcast earth station for an existing customer. The contract is valued at $1.0 million and includes the upgrade of an existing satellite antenna as well as the turnkey installation of a low noise amplifier subsystem, digital video broadcasting 2ndgen modulator subsystem plus a high power amplifier system. The installation and system provisioning should be completed by March 31st of next year.
Globecomm also donated satellite equipment and tech support to relive and support workers during the recent fires in California. The company’s effort was in support of Christ in Action ministries and they supplied “Camp Hope“, the sight of relief efforts, with the satellite connection. The ministry’s director, Dr. Dennis Nissley, stated, “I honestly do not know what we would have done without their partnership. Many of the volunteers who poured into the area to help were small and midsize business owners from around the world. Thanks to the communications network now in place, they have been able to remain longer, since they can now manage their businesses and personal affairs on-line, thanks to the satellite connection.”—Hauppague, New York
