As the market for portable navigation units continues its explosive growth, Pharos Science & Applications, Inc. has debuted two new models in its Drive GPS line. The Pharos Drive GPS 250 is a new portable navigation device with a large 4.3-inch touch screen display and easy to use software. The Pharos Drive GPS 150 is an entry level navigator that offers top of the line navigation for a competitive price. Both units will be available in major retail outlets in the coming weeks. Over the last decade, Pharos has pioneered advancements in consumer navigation and earned 2 patents and 15 industry honors in the process. Just last month, the Pharos Drive GPS 135, a predecessor to the new models, won first place in the New York Premium show.
Slightly larger than a pack of playing cards, the focal point of the Drive GPS 250 is its large touch screen display. The screen is optimized for use in daylight and will automatically switch to night view after sun set so drivers always have a clear view of their route. Designed for portability, the highly sensitive SiRFStarIII GPS receiver and antenna are embedded into the lightweight unit, so it’s easy to mount the Drive GPS 250 in a car or slip it in a briefcase for transport. Plus, the Drive GPS 250 comes with a rechargeable Lithium-Polymer battery that can provide up to seven hours continuous operation.
Offering the same powerful and easy to use navigation experience on a smaller, more portable device, the Drive GPS 150 is perfect for the budget minded customer. Measuring just 3.94 inches long, the Drive GPS 150 offers navigation software with a pedestrian mode that plots routes with pedestrian options and preferences in mind—Torrance, California
