There’s a new satellite tracking tag out there, and it’s known as SX1. Globalstar Simplex data integrator, Orbit One (a Numerex company) has launched the SX1, which is designed to communicate using the Globalstar satellite Simplex data network, a part of Orbit One’s Total Asset Visibility solution. The satellite-based SX1 is part of a complete, turnkey global tracking and monitoring solution. It is packaged with hardware as well as network services to provide alert monitoring and GPS-based asset tracking information to customers, all without the need for cellular networks, external power, or close proximity to an RFID reader.
Measuring approximately 7.25"x 3.25"x 1" (184x83x25mm), and weighing only 13 ounces (369g), the new SX1 is the smallest and lightest Globalstar Simplex data modem. The inexpensive SX1 can be attached in seconds to high value assets such as intermodal shipping containers, trailers, buoys, barges, mobile generators, etc., by use of several "peel and stick" mounting options and transmit their GPS location over satellite. Earlier this year, Numerex Corp. announced that it had acquired the assets of Orbit One Communications, Inc. Numerex will continue the Orbit One business through its wholly owned subsidiary, Orbit One Communications, LLC—Milpitas, California
