RAMTelecom Inc. [TSX-V:RTC] has been selected by ShopCast to provide satellite service to support the EK3 Narrowcasting network in Wal-Mart Canada Corporation stores across Canada. ShopCast, a Toronto-based company, will use RAMTelecom satellite communications services to enable the EK3 Narrowcasting Network to run Wal-Mart’s closed circuit TV, which will communicate directly with shoppers. The in-store network is built around LCD screens in high-traffic areas, and at cash registers, where consumers will learn about universal store initiatives, as well as get targeted information that is relevant to specific departments and local needs.
During the first phase of the project, EK3 will use RAMTelecom’s satellite communications to deliver ShopCast in-store narrowcasting services to 60 Wal-Mart retail outlets across Canada. This phase is contracted to RAMTelecom for five years at a value of $468,000. ShopCast has spent the past ten months successfully trialing RAMTelecom’s satellite services at selected Wal-Mart Canada stores in Ontario—Ottawa, Ontario
