The news blurted out the information early yesterday morning during the business report — Nokia is going to acquire NAVTEQ for an aggregate purchase price of about $8.1 billion (€5.7 billion), or approximately $7.7 billion (€5.4 billion) of NAVTEQ existing cash balance. That works out to about $78 per each share of NAVTEQ, including outstanding options. The Board of Directors for each company have approved of this acquisition which is, of course, subject to customary closing conditions, regulatory approvals and NAVTEQ shareholder’s OK’s.
