The successful completion of interoperability testing and sea trials between the Hughes HN series of broadband satellite modems and the specially-adapted Orbit AL-7103-MKII-GMS marine stabilized satellite antenna have brought smiles to the folk at Global Marine Communications Ltd (GMC), Hughes Network Systems (Hughes), LLC, and Orbit Technology Group. This now enables Global Marine to start initial operations in Europe and the Middle East using the HughesNet satellite service.
And, Ahoy Mateys! If you own, rent, covet, or otherwise have access to a sea worthy craft and are planning to attend the Monaco Yacht Show (actually, with or sans your own vessel), these three companies will be exhibiting this ware and others on Stand QP-17, Parvis Piscine. There will be a press and VIP launch on board the ‘White Rose of Drachs’ in Cap d’ Ail Harbour at 5:00 p.m. on September 20th. For an invitation, you should email [email protected] as soon as is humanly possible.
The HN series of broadband terminals is based on the IPoS satellite standard. The DVB-2 standard with Adaptive Coding & Modulation (ACM) is included. This offers high throughput using Ku-band antenna sizes that are smaller than were previously possible on shipping vessels. The terminals themselves support one or more LAN ports with IP compression and acceleration for optimized performance over satellite—Germantown, Maryland—August 23, 2007
