SISLink in action…
SURREY, UNITED KINGDOM: August 13, 2007—Satnews Daily—Systems for delivering voice and data communications from Vocality International have now been delivered to SISLink. The Vocality system delivers voice, clean feeds as well as Internet access to SISlink’s remote uplink vehicles, which happens to be the largest, independent satellite uplink truck fleet in the world.
The 100 systems will be used as part of the new IP-based satellite network, which SISLink is now implementing. They’ll support the scope of communications requirements among SISLink’s client list that includes SkyNews, Sky Italy, ITN and ITV Sport. Vocality manufacturers and designs IP routers, multiplexers and satellite simulators used in mobile satellite operations, including military and broadcast vehicles and flyaway and fixed satellite earth stations.
The company has also released a new satellite network simulator. This product offers VSAT system design designers and integrators with a test platform to try out a range of applications and to see the effect that delay, errors and QoS (Quality of Service) has on the performance of their end user applications. This new offering is called Simulator 3 and combines IP and serial satellite modems… simply because you never truly know which modem you might be interfacing to next.
The device offers as many as 16 IP ports that can be configured to represent the types of network performance found in a satellite IP network. This includes bandwidth restrictions, QoS profiles, all extensively configurable. You can also apply up to 10 seconds delays with a wide range of realistic error and clock conditions. There’s also scripting for detailed network testing. These all reflect real-world conditions of operating a satellite terminal in less-than-ideal conditions. The company’s Simulator 2 is in use in more than 450 labs and client sites.
