ViaSat Inc. (Nasdaq:VSAT) has received certification from National Security Agency/Central Security Service (NSA/CSS) to add a compact, ruggedized model to its AltaSec® family of HAIPE® Type 1 Inline Network Encryptors (INE) called the KG-250X. Engineered for extreme mobile mission requirements and small enough to stow in a cargo pocket, the KG-250X packs the cryptographic power to connect warfighters, coalition partners, and other government agencies in secure networks.
The new KG-250X is a HAIPE® IS V3 compliant encryptor that offers these benefits:
- Secure exchange of classified information up to the Top Secret level
- Lowest size, weight, and power 100 Mbps HAIPE® crypto
- Ruggedized to MIL-STD-810F
- Creates secure gateways over un-trusted networks regardless of mission location

The KG-250X, like other ViaSat encryption products, is built around the PSIAM™ architecture that provides programmable, low-cost cryptography through its use of commercial off the shelf (COTS) parts. ViaSat is also under contract by the NSA Maryland Procurement Office to upgrade the KG-250X to HAIPE® IS V4. The HAIPE® IS V4 features open up the information assurance market to a much larger population of users.
