JAKARTA, INDONESIA — Global satellite service operator IEC Telecom Group has officially announced the establishment of its new dedicated local entity, PT IEC Telecom Indonesia. Headquartered in Jakarta, the launch marks a significant milestone in the company’s multi-year expansion strategy across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

The in-country office is designed to scale operations, support local partners, and meet the country’s accelerating demand for reliable managed voice and data services.
Bridging the Digital Divide Across 17,000 Islands
Indonesia’s unique geography presents one of the most complex digital infrastructure challenges in the world. With a population exceeding 280 million people spread across an expansive archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, terrestrial network deployment is inherently limited.
While major urban centers are supported by fiber optic networks and conventional mobile infrastructure, vast swathes of the country remain digitally isolated. Remote agricultural villages, heavy industry plantations, mining sites, and offshore maritime vessels routinely operate completely outside the boundaries of terrestrial coverage. PT IEC Telecom Indonesia will directly target these coverage gaps by providing localized deployment and support of hybrid network solutions.
Supporting Sovereign Digital Milestones
The establishment of the local entity aligns with Indonesia’s long-term national development strategies, specifically the Indonesia Digital Vision 2045 and the Golden Indonesia 2045 initiatives. These state-led programs prioritize inclusive digital access as a core driver of domestic economic development.
IEC Telecom Indonesia’s portfolio will actively support critical public sector initiatives that require robust satellite connectivity to succeed:
- Universal Service Obligation (USO): Assisting state-directed frameworks aimed at extending fundamental internet access to remote, underserved border communities.
- Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG): Providing the underlying network logistics and connectivity infrastructure required to coordinate large-scale social programs, such as the national initiative delivering free, nutritious meals to children across thousands of isolated schools.
“Establishing IEC Telecom Indonesia is a natural next step, one that allows us to serve this market with the depth and local presence it deserves,” stated Antoine Veillon, Group CEO at IEC Telecom. “The APAC region is one of our highest strategic priorities, and over the past two years, our growth here has been significant.”
Tailored Hybrid Ecosystems for Industrial Digitalization
The newly formed entity is fully operational to deliver integrated communications environments combining Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Geostationary (GEO), and LTE-based technologies. By utilizing multi-orbit networks, IEC Telecom can tailor specific connectivity links depending on the data requirements and mobility constraints of individual sectors.
According to data from the Asian Development Bank, an expanded digital economy is estimated to add up to 11% to Indonesia’s national GDP over the next two decades. Achieving this trajectory depends heavily on establishing continuous infrastructure up to the furthest tactical edges.
Jansen Harianja, Sales Director of IEC Telecom Indonesia, emphasized the operational value of the new office:
“What changes now is the level at which we can operate: with a dedicated local presence, full in-country capability, and the strength of a globally experienced team behind us. Our edge AI and multi-orbit ecosystems process data dynamically, ensuring that enterprises in energy, logistics, and maritime sectors get real-time situational awareness, not just raw data pipelines.”
