NewSpace Systems, a globally recognized provider of spacecraft components and subsystems, has announced the establishment of a new European subsidiary in the Netherlands.

Strengthening Continental Presence
The announcement was made during the SmallSat Europe conference in Amsterdam, marking a significant milestone in the company’s long-term international growth strategy and strengthening its footprint across continental Europe.
The expansion reflects a rising global demand for the company’s heritage-driven Guidance, Navigation, and Control hardware. By establishing a formalized regional presence, NewSpace Systems aims to deepen its engagement with European commercial customers, institutional partners, and aerospace organizations.
Tanya Lerm, chief executive officer of NewSpace Systems, noted that growing engagement across Europe made a strategic regional hub increasingly important. The Netherlands was ultimately selected following an evaluation of several potential locations due to its favorable international business environment, highly skilled workforce, and rapidly growing domestic space ecosystem.
Phased Operational Rollout
The new European entity will follow a phased operational rollout to maximize regional alignment and flexibility. Its initial focus areas will include:
- Business Development: Identifying and securing new commercial and institutional programs within Europe.
- Customer Engagement: Providing a localized touchpoint for contract management and client relations.
- Technical Support: Offering real-time engineering and product assistance to regional operators.
Over time, the subsidiary plans to systematically expand its localized capabilities in response to evolving customer needs and broader European market opportunities.
Expanding Infrastructure at Home
Importantly, the creation of the European subsidiary is designed to complement—rather than replace—the company’s existing international operations, which already include a dedicated footprint in the United States.
“Our headquarters in South Africa remain the heart of our engineering, manufacturing, and operations,” Lerm emphasized. “As we continue growing internationally, we remain equally committed to investing in our capabilities at home.”
To support this global momentum, NewSpace Systems has significantly upgraded its primary facilities in Somerset West, South Africa. Over the past year, the company developed a new 1,260-square-meter cleanroom facility within its purpose-built 5,200-square-meter complex.
Now recognized as the largest cleanroom of its kind in Africa, the expansion more than doubles the company’s total manufacturing capacity. This enables NewSpace Systems to scale up its fully in-house manufacturing and testing capabilities to support thousands of upcoming spacecraft missions worldwide.
