Ovzon has officially announced the receipt of a significant supplementary order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), further deepening the strategic relationship between the SATCOM provider and the Swedish government.
This latest agreement, valued at 58 MSEK—approximately 6.1 million USD—focuses on the provision of additional mobile satellite terminals designed to bolster the Swedish Armed Forces’ tactical communication capabilities.
The delivery of these advanced terminals is scheduled to take place during the first half of 2026. This procurement is not an isolated transaction but rather a critical expansion of the existing infrastructure support Ovzon provides to FMV. These mobile terminals are engineered for seamless integration with Ovzon’s current satellite network services, ensuring that Swedish defense forces maintain high-throughput, reliable connectivity even in the most contested or remote operational theaters.
Resiliency of Ovzon 3 Technology
One of the most technically significant aspects of this order is the hardware’s compatibility with the Ovzon 3 satellite’s unique On-Board Processor. Unlike traditional satellite architectures that require a constant link to a ground-based “gateway” or hub to relay data, the Ovzon 3 On-Board Processor allows for direct terminal-to-terminal communication. This capability effectively removes a potential point of failure and significantly reduces latency, providing a level of resiliency that is paramount for modern military operations.
