Following an open invitation to tender, Amphinicy Technologies, a provider of advanced software solutions and software products for the satellite industry from Zagreb (Croatia) and Luxembourg (Luxembourg), has been awarded a contract by the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), located in Darmstadt (Germany) for the provision of the LEO Ground Stations M&C system to support the ground segment operations of the EUMETSAT’s facilities at Svalbard and the Azores. The goal of the project is to harmonize EUMETSAT’s LEO Ground Station M&C systems under a unified, scalable, and future-ready architecture to support multi-mission operations, streamline maintenance, and reduce risks.
The new M&C solution will be based on Amphinicy’s Monica product, a modern monitoring and control framework for the satellite industry. This agreement marks an important milestone for Amphinicy, reinforcing its position as the leading satellite software provider and a trusted industry partner.

EUMETSAT operates a diverse network of LEO ground stations across Svalbard (Norway) and Portugal’s Azores, supporting key programs including the EUMETSAT Polar System (EPS), its second generation (EPS-SG), and a part of the Joint Polar System (JPS).
Over two decades, these stations have deployed multiple program-specific monitoring and control (M&C) systems tailored to individual missions. While these systems have served EUMETSAT’s needs, the current diversity in architectures and protocols has led to operational complexity in maintenance and upgrades that now needs to be optimized and streamlined.
In response to market demands, Amphinicy has developed Monica: a modern and versatile monitoring and control solution for satellite ground segment operations. Monica acts as the intermediary between ground station operators and the various components within the ground station. It enables operators to monitor the health, status, and performance of different ground station subsystems in real time. The collected data is processed and presented through a user-friendly interface in Monica, using schemas and dashboards to deliver actionable insights. Remote configuration, diagnostics, and command execution of critical parameters are also supported.
In the frame of the EUMETSAT project, Amphinicy will develop and deploy a unified M&C system at Svalbard and the Azores, consisting of the Monica COTS M&C and EUMETSAT-specific customizations, including new modules. The new M&C system will allow EUMETSAT to:
- transition from program-specific systems to a standardized, multi-mission architecture,
- enable centralized management of all antennas and ground stations with consistent functionality and interfaces,
- reduce complexity and streamline maintenance efforts.
