SpaceX launches Starlink Group 6-61 smallsats on Wednesday

On Wednesday, October 23 at 5:47 p.m. ET, Falcon 9 launched 23 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

This was the 18th flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously launched Ispace M1, CRS-27, SES 22, Amazonas-6, Bandwagon-1, and now 13 Starlink missions.

SpaceX currently operates more than 6,400 Starlink satellites in LEO, according to astrophysicist and satellite tracker Jonathan McDowell.

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 is slated to launch 23 Starlink smallsats into Low Earth Orbit from Cape Canaveral on October 22, Tuesday night from 3:52 – 7:14 p.m. PDT. The launch will tie a record amount of 72 launches from last year.

According to weather officials, there’s a 70% chance of favorable weather conditions at the time of the launch. The forecast calls for a temperature of 77° F, light rain, 16% cloud cover, a wind speed of 19 mph and 0.14 in of rain.

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 is slated to launch 23 Starlink smallsats into Low Earth Orbit from Cape Canaveral Monday night from 6:40 p.m. until 11:11 p.m. EDT. If the launch transpires it will tie a record amount of 72 launches from last year.

The forecast calls for a temperature of 76°F, light rain, 5% cloud cover, a wind speed of 18mph and 0.64in of rain.

SpaceX is standing by to launch Starlink Group 6-16 smallsats on Monday, October 21, from Space Launch Complex 40, Cape Canaveral, Florida, which has launched 266 rockets, including 266 orbital launch attempts. This launch will send off 23 Starlink smallsats at 6:58 PM – 10:40 PM EST (local time) and 3:58 PM – 7:40 PM PDT (Pacific Daylight Time) to Low Earth Orbit at a cost of $69.75 million.

The weather looks favorable after the death and destruction from tornadoes and hurricanes that have recently, tragically, destroyed many places.
