Faster and more robust operational connectivity for MOL (Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd.) and that company's fleet of 15 LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) carriers has been signed by NSSLGlobal.
The new NSSLGlobal system meets MOL LNG’s performance and support requirements to deliver faster, more robust operational connectivity and ship-to-shore remote access, alongside improved crew welfare and MLC-2006 compliance as well as adhering to the vision, mission and principles of the shipping company.
Eleven ships have been completed and a further three are being worked on, as of this writing. Many installations have been conducted while the ships were in active service. NSSLGlobal engineers flew out to locations such as Spain, got on board and traveled with the ship, doing the install in-situ, before disembarking at the next port. The install involved ripping out the old equipment, replacing with new racks and completing the difficult task of configuring the antennas when the ships were moving.
According to Pete Adsett, the IT Supervisor for MOL LNG, the fact that NSSLGlobal owns and controls their own global VSAT network offered the confidence that firm could deliver against MOL performance requirements and SLAs.
Henrik Christensen at NSSLGlobal added that the new system now in place will give MOL LNG ships greater flexibility, stability and availability of communication services to operate more efficiently, keep the crew happy and help future proof against rising data volumes.
