…integrates as many as six transmit channels in one system. The transmitter offers flexible configuration options for various applications and receiving conditions, making it the perfect choice for use in areas without specific broadcasting infrastructure and even for installation in the smallest of outdoor enclosures. With a depth of just 250mm, the R&S MLx is the most compact transmitter on the market. All interfaces can be easily accessed on the transmitter’s front panel. The transport stream can be fed via satellite or coaxial cable. The R&S MLx even supports UMTS for monitoring broadcast operations. In addition, it produces very little dissipated heat and is equipped with convection cooling, making complex cooling systems unnecessary.
The autonomous transmitter unit is ideal for rural areas with poor reception such as mountain valleys and islands, as well as for small private networks at trade fairs, shopping centers or universities, to cite a few examples. Even in city centers with many high-rise buildings, the R&S MLx can bolster network coverage. Network operators need outstanding echo cancellation for SFN operation. The R&S MLx supports echo cancellation with levels that are up to 24 dB higher than the input signal, achieving the best performance on the market. With three echo windows and seven echo detection speeds, it provides a diverse range of optimization options to greatly improve digital TV reception.
The compact, 5 HU cabinet accommodates any combination of transmitters, gap fillers and retransmitters with power classes of 1 W, 5 W or 10 W and allows them to be operated simultaneously, offering flexibility for any application. The redundancy concept is both fail-safe and customizable, from 5+1 redundancy all the way to three individual modules in passive standby. Mixed DVB-T/H and DVB-T2 N+1 systems are also supported.
An efficient management system lets users control all components centrally. The intuitive, web-based interface gives a quick overview of the status of the integrated modules, the built-in N+1 switches and the GPS and satellite receivers. The R&S MLx is now available from Rohde & Schwarz.
