…for tracking and monitoring military assets. Under the three-year, $12.4 million IDIQ contract, ARINC will continue its development, testing, and certification of the wireless mesh network protocol and sensor applications initiated under a previous contract. Following functional requirements and technical specifications provided by the federal government, ARINC, together with Cubic Global Tracking Solutions (CGTS) and Lunarline Inc., will close the gaps in the supply/distribution enterprise, resulting in continuous, near-real-time global in-transit visibility and total asset visibility. The final NGWC mesh protocol that results from this contract will support sensor applications that will enable the U.S. Army’s vision for a Common Logistics Operating Environment.
The ARINC team has developed a unique protocol using commercially available radio chipsets to provide an ad-hoc, self-forming, self-healing, battery operated, wireless mesh network. Further development is planned to provide handheld reader and data file capability, improved reliability, interoperability with legacy systems, and incorporate additional information assurance features.
