This national initiative provides consumers with additional value when purchasing SPOT Connect, the satellite communicator that pairs with some of today’s leading smartphone operating systems to send custom messages from virtually anywhere in the world. Starting immediately through August 31, 2011, consumers who purchase SPOT Connect from authorized SPOT retailers in the US and Canada are eligible to receive 100 Type & Send messages free when they register annual service at findmeSPOT.com. The Type and Send message bundle allows SPOT Connect customers to send custom messages from their smartphone device over the Globalstar satellite network to their personal contacts, a rescue coordination center or selected social networks such as Facebook and Twitter regardless of cellular or Wi-Fi service.

By simply downloading the free SPOT Connect App, the SPOT Connect device can wirelessly pair with smartphones or compatible mobile devices via Bluetooth®. The SPOT satellite message features are initiated directly from the app allowing users to send 41 character custom Type and Send messages or 120 character Predefined messages to others. Established SPOT message features include Check-in/OK, Help, SPOT Assist, SOS and automated Track Progress. Existing SPOT customers can now upgrade their SPOT service to the new SPOT Connect device. This new account management feature allows their current SPOT service and data to be transferred to SPOT Connect directly from within their user account.
