The new building will be crucial in helping Tekdata deliver a wide range of products and cable assemblies to fulfil its order book. The company’s breadth of technologies and applications include aero control systems, large numbers of military communications systems, harnesses for advanced missiles, military specification IT racks, harnesses and related equipment for spacecraft, and satellite land systems. Tekdata also builds equipment for submarines and military vehicles, and it makes substantial contributions in industrial, instrumentation and energy management equipment.
Ernie Edwards of Tekdata Interconnections commented: “In recent years we have solved complex design challenges and delivered on precise technical and commercial demands from our customers. Our continuous success has resulted in growth, and this growth means the time is right for Tekdata to relocate to this new facility. This move will help us continue supporting major manufacturers with a diverse range of products & technologies.”
Professor Keith Mason said: “STFC has a long history of collaboration with Tekdata through partnerships with our Space Science and Technology Department –SSTD- at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford and our UK Astronomy Technology Centre at Edinburgh, working on cryogenic woven cables for high profile space missions and ground-based instruments. Today marks a significant milestone in Tekdata’s history and I’m extremely pleased to have been a part of this event.”
The new facility, located in Etruria near Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, has room to accommodate Tekdata’s expected future growth; this move will help the company serve its existing and new client base from both sides of the Atlantic, and provide a better working environment to its workforce which increased by over 25 percent last year alone.
