WTA is now accepting applications for its 2008 Top Operators rankings. This is the world’s only yearly rankings of teleport operating companies by revenue and growth rate. Nominations will be accepted through close of business on October 17th and the 2008 rankings will be announced on November 10th. Each year’s Top Operators, including uplinkers, satellite carriers, fiber network operators, systems integrators, media companies, and specialized satcom service providers, receive valuable exposure from the announcement. Companies may apply for a place among the Top Operators by completing a 12-question application form available on the WTA Web site. WTA compiles data provided by the applicants and publishes rankings in three categories…
- The Global Top Twenty — based on revenue from all sources and including all commercial operators
- The Independent Top Twenty — based on revenue from all sources but excluding companies whose primary business is satellite fleet operations or terrestrial network services
- The Fast Twenty — based on year-over-year revenue growth in their most recent complete fiscal years, and including all commercial operators
The 2007 Top Operators included the best-known names in the industry — such as SES Global, Intelsat, GlobeCast, and Arqiva — as well as less-recognized teleport operators including Uplit, Essel Shyam, Emerging Markets Communications, and Jordan Media City.
