The launch of ProtoStar I, a high power Ku- and C-band satellite destined to provide DTH service to Asia, has been delayed until Monday, July 7th. The satellite is scheduled to lift off aboard an Ariane 5-ECA rocket from the European Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana. The satellite will be operated by ProtoStar Ltd. The rescheduled liftoff for the Ariane mission has been moved from Friday, July 4th, to Monday, July 7th. ProtoStar I, manufactured by Space Systems/Loral, will enter commercial service at 98.5° E following completion of routine in-orbit tests (IOT). The same launch will carry the Arabsat BADR-6 satellite, manufactured by EADS Astrium and Thales Alenia Space, into orbit at 26° E.
