Thales Alenia Space indicates that the company delivered the Express-AM44 payload module to the JSC ISS – Reshetnev Company site in Krasnoyarsk, Russia (formerly NPO-PM) for integration into JSC ISS’ satellite platform, which started on April 25, 2008. The Express-AM44 satellite, dedicated to the Russian Satellite Communication Company (RSCC), is planed for launch from Baikonur by a Proton-M rocket. Express-AM44 satellite is designed to provide digital TV and radio broadcasting, telephony, data transmission channels, videoconferencing services and Internet access. The satellite will be also used to deploy communication networks by applying VSAT technology across the territory of Russia, CIS countries, Europe, Asia and Africa. This communication satellite will carry 37 transponders, including 16 actives transponders in Ku-band, 20 in C-band, and 1 in L-band; has 4 antennas; three steerable antennas for C and Ku-band as well as a L-band network antenna. It will weigh about 2.6 tons at launch, will have a 6 kW electrical power end of life and will be positioned at 11° W—Cannes, France
