  • Research and Markets has added USA Annual Publication, ‘2008 USA – Telecoms, Wireless and Broadband‘ to their offerings. This report profiles the fixed-line, wireless (mobile) and broadband markets in the USA. Also examined is the convergence of these technologies with each other and with digital media such as digital TV and the emergence of new telecommunication services such as VoIP and IPTV. These markets continued their trends towards a triple play model during 2007 and early 2008. In particular, the telcos started making genuine strides towards their vision of triple play by aggressively accelerating their deployment of optic fibre networks across their footprint. Their sense of urgency was highlighted by the rate of wireline losses; both Verizon and AT&T Inc posted fixed-line losses of around 10 percent for 2007. The main beneficiaries of the telcos’ significant churn rates were the cable companies, whose VoIP services enjoyed rapid subscriber gains.

The Internet economy continued its meteoric rise, with sites such as Facebook becoming $100 billion companies virtually overnight, highlighting the enormous scale of network economies that can be harnessed by the Internet’s expansive reach. Online advertising and e-commerce are becoming an increasingly significant share of the overall advertising and retail markets. Microsoft’s bid for Yahoo!, if successful, would give the merged entity, together with Google, a combined 50 percent of the $20 billion per annum online advertising market. This report provides overviews, analyses and detailed statistics on the US fixed-line, wireless and broadband markets including their sub-markets such as DSL, cable, FttH, wireless broadband, utilities broadband, the Internet, VoIP and IPTV. Before joining RTW, Kahsnitz’s career included a position as the technical director of a large recording studio operation in the greater Cologne area. At RTW he played a key role in the German launch of the U.S. company Audio Precision‘s computer-assisted audio instrument systems, which RTW has been marketing with great success since 1985—Cologne, Germany

  • Recognized by Frost & Sullivan for their continuing technology innovation and value-added services, plus significant growth and leadership in the global mobile satellite services (MSS) industry, the 2007 North American Mobile Satellite Services Product Innovation of the Year Award has been awarded to Stratos Global Corporation. How on earth they manage to inscribe such a lengthy award title on a plaque or other trophy is, in and of itself, worthy of an innovation award. Stratos provides global MSS services to a variety of vertical markets as well as to leading satellite operators such as Inmarsat and Iridium. This award is presented annually to the company that has demonstrated excellence in new products and technologies within their industry—Palo Alto, California

  • Strategy Analytics Logo Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service revenues will approach $14 billion in 2012, growing from $694 million in 2007, according to “US IPTV Forecast and Outlook,” a report just released by Strategy Analytics. Although there are numerous IPTV providers of all shapes and sizes in the US, the landscape is largely dominated by the two incumbents: AT&T and Verizon, each of which has a different approach in terms of technology and investment. Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) is expected to remain relatively stable throughout the forecast period. Service growth will come largely from an increased number of IPTV-passed homes, and higher take-up rates. In addition to providing an outlook of the current United States IPTV market, this report forecasts homes passed, homes connected and service revenues in the market through 2012. In addition, it identifies key imperatives for service providers to compete effectively in a highly penetrated Pay-TV environment.
