- Brit-based Avanti Communications and Inmarsat have joined forces, as the former works to place their first satcom into orbit. Named HylasOne (Highly Adaptable Satellite), the company is targeting 2009 for the launch, with Inmarsat bringing into play their net and sat control centers. The clients for HylasOne will be telecom firms who are most eager to obtain additional capacity. The European Space Agency is building HylasOne with Avanti who gained the right for this sat, surprising industry pundits and watchers, for beams into Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, India and the Middle East—London, United Kingdom
