In additional BAE Systems news, the company now also has an agreement with Actel Corporation to produce a radiation-hardened field-programmable gate array (FPGA) semiconductor for use in space. This new semiconductor will address major obsolescence programs for various legacy satellite programs. The FPGA will allow producers of satellite payloads and instruments to avoid time-consuming and costly redesigns as well as help satellite programs to remain on schedule. BAE Systems will develop, manufacture, and sell the RH1020B FPGA under a license agreement with Actel Corporation. This is the second time in less than a year that BAE Systems has intro’d a product to replace discontinued FPGA components. Flight units will be delivered during Q1 of 2009—Manassas, Massachusetts
