A successful demo by Harris Corporation [NYSE:HRS] of their new Falcon III multiband manpack radio has been completed. The demo was held during a 10-day U.S. Army exercise that focused on integrating new networking technologies into the Patriot missile communications system. This exercise was part of the nexgen Army Integrated Air & Missile Defense – System of Systems.
The Harris Falcon III manpack is a wideband tactical radio. It provides secure Internet Protocol data to the tactical Internet at on-air rates of up to 10 Mbps. The unit incorporates the Harris Advanced Networking Wideband Waveform (ANW2), (TACSAT) capabilities, including the High Performance Waveform (HOPW). It will incorporate the Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW) via a future software upgrade.
