From U-Nav Microelectronics comes a new product line that includes a high-sensitive uN3010 Evaluation Kit (EVK) based on a full-function GPS receiver reference design that incorporates a 0.18-micron single chip, the uN3010, and Orion 2.2.4 GPS software. This high-sensitivity EVK is capable of signal tracking at less than -160dBm and consumes less than 50mW in full, continuous GPS receiver operation. There’s also a battery backup mode of less than 10uW, according to u-Nav. The embedded Orion software handles all GPS functions.
Through the product line’s software development kit (SDK), adjustments can be made to the navigation performance. Standalone, fully embedded apps can be developed using the company’s standard binary software release. Or, they can be customized using the SDK. This results in a full NMEA receiver with no host software integration or resource burden. For host-based solutions, u-Nav is offering Install n Go, a Windows CE host application program—Irvine, California
