California’s Lieutenant Governor, John Garamendi, will address the attendees of the Transforming Space 2007 Conference on November 8 in Los Angeles. As Chairman of California’s Commission for Economic Development (CED), Garamendi will highlight the need for California to invest in developing the workforce of the future. In addition to his responsibility to foster economic growth through the CED, the Lieutenant Governor serves as a member of the governing boards of the University of California and California State University.
"As Lt. Governor, one of my top priorities has been working with Governor Schwarzenegger to rebuild the Commission for Economic Development," said Garamendi. "I look forward to working with our partners in Aerospace technology to build a sustainable growth economy, create a 21st-century workforce, and maintain California’s position of leadership in the global marketplace." Garamendi will also announce tomorrow that the Commission for Economic Development has selected 6 Californians to serve on its Aerospace advisory committee. The advisory committee will make recommendations with respect to the status of aerospace business in the state and identify key challenges to the industry’s growth and offer recommendations for solutions. Additionally, they will provide input for the Commission’s annual report." The California Space Authority 3rd Annual Transforming Space Conference is being held at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, LAX, in Los Angeles.
