NDS has announced another increase in the company’s quarter of earnings, up 25 percent from Q1 07. Quarterly net income of $46.294 million has risen as compared to $35.088 million a year ago. Key NDS statistics for Q1 08 include 78.6 million active smart cards with VideoGuard Conditional Access and DRM, 69.9 million cumulative MediaHighway middleware; 8.8 million cumulative DVRs, currently running on more than 50 TV platforms in more than 35 countries and 15 languages. The company has also announced two new NDS deployments. India’s leading cellular operator, Bharti Airtel, has chosen technology from NDS for its new digital satellite platform. And VideoGuard, MediaHighway and NDS’ customized electronic program guide have also been selected to protect and enhance new services. Chinese Tianjin Broadcast & TV Network Co. Ltd has also selected NDS CA to secure its new digital cable TV platform, which is currently serving more than two million homes in China—New York, New York & London, United Kingdom
