Launched in 2000 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, AMC-6 is an A2100AX class satellite that operates from 72°W. The spacecraft’s 24, 36 MHz C-band transponders feature 20 watt SSPAs (Solid State Power Amplifier); the twenty-four 36 MHz and four 72 MHz Ku-band transponders feature 110 watt TWTAs (Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier); each of the Ku-band transponders is switchable, transponder by transponder, into both or either the northern and southern hemisphere—Madrid, Spain
