Spacecom [Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: SCC], the AMOS satellites operator, has secured new customers in the Romanian market. The newest Romanian channels utilizing AMOS satellites’ hot spot located at 4°W longitude are Neptun TV and Oltenia TV. With these networks adding to AMOS’ neighborhood footprint in Romania, the company enters a new stage of growth. In addition to the country’s BOOM TV DTH platform, other operators include: Realitatea TV, Telesport, Money Channel, B1TV, MTV Romania, Good Life Channel, Flux TV, AlphaTV, Alpha TV Ploiesti, SensoTV and TVRM.
The company has also announced their position has been enhanced with MTV Network’s Central and Eastern European subsidiaries with the signing of MTV Ukraine, one of the network’s fastest growing channels. The Ukrainian and Russian language channel is being broadcast to the Ukraine and surrounding region over the AMOS-2 satellite located at 4°W. MTV Ukraine has signed a three year contract for the distribution of content to cable head-ends throughout its country and the CIS surrounding region an has the option to use the value added ViaAccess encryption system used by Spacecom in uplink stations located throughout the Ukraine. In 2006 alone, the company added eleven contracts with channels broadcasting over the Ukraine—Tel Aviv, Israel
