The spotlight on the 2007 Rugby World Cup is going to be the task of GlobeCast and their efforts to provide an uncompressed HD signal. This subsidiary of France Telecom, now celebrating its 10th anniversary, is going to provide end-to-end satellite and fiber contributions services for host broadcaster TVH and others and broadcasters. A fleet of 15 SNG vehicles will be deployed to every corner of France. Three trucks will be dedicated to HD. On-site production and network capacity will also be provided.
TVH requested GlobeCast transmit their coverage in SD and HD fro the matches to its International Broadcast Centre (IBC) just outside Paris. And for the very first time in Europe, the company will provide long-distance, terrestrial transport of non-compressed HD signals. The matches at Marseille will be the where this experiment occurs. Additionally, SD backup feeds via satellite will be ensured—France—August 28, 2007
