BEIJING, CHINA: August 20, 2007—Satnews Daily—For use on a new Chinese satellite is a number of product units from Newtec. The company has just shipped the order to the Administrative Bureau of Radio Stations (ARBS), one of the Chinese SARFT (The State Administration of Radio, Film & Television) organizations. The shipment includes 56 units of the NTC/2277 DVB-S satellite modulators and 28 sets of NTC/2185 Universal Redundancy Switches. DVB, or Digital Video Broadcast, is a standard for direct broadcast TV, based on MPEG-2 compression, outside of North America using the PAL (Phase Alternative Line) standard at 625 lines per frame at 25 fps (frames per second).
The NTC/2277 is a member of Newtec’s Azimuth family, a fully modular product that also includes leading DVB-S, DVB-S2, and ABS-S (the Chinese DTH standard) products. The managing director of Newtec in China, Larry Zhang, said, “With this equipment ABRS will benefit from Newtec’s industry-leading experience with DVB modulation.” Newtec opened their offices in China in 2005.
